The genus Floridichthys, Hubbs 1926

In the year 1924 C.L. Hubbs wrote a work called: Studies of the fishes of the order Cyprinodontes VI. Miscelleaneous Publications of the Museum of Zoology of the University of Michigan 16: 16-17.

In that work he erected the genus Floridichthys and later in another paper (Hubbs and Miller 1942) a summary of characters was provided to show that Floridichthys was distinguished from their close relative Cyprinodon. In Parenti 1981 was written that Floridichthys is characterized by an connected first paryngobranchial toothplate which bears a set of teeth.
