| The type locality of this Neofundulus guaporensis is Forte Príncipede Beira, Rondônia, in west Brasil. Its coordinates aprox. 64° 24' W; 12° 22' S The name guaporensis has its origin at the name of the river where it was found, Rio Guaporé. The species was described from a single juvenile sample that looked similar than the general juveniles in this genus but has lower number of doirsal rays and a more shallower head. It is never reported in the aquarium hobby so far.
