Neofundulus parvipinnis, Costa, 1988

History

The type locality is A pool along the autoroute BR-364, 36 km. oeste de Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, Brasil.

The given name refers to the shorter dorsal fin and smaller anal fin than other members in the genus show.

(parvi = short, pinnis = fins)

Reproduction

Not known but assumed not to be different than other species in the genus Neofundulus. All other members of the genus that could be kept in aquaria did dive into the substratum. Eggs need at least 3 to 8 months or longer to develop.
