Costa (2011) Nested the subgenera Benirivulus and Oditichthys in the proposed new genus Anablepsoides, a move that is discussed and not followed in this site.

We here recon only 6 species, all close related to R. atratus, to belong in the subgenus Anablepsoides sensu Huber. All others are assigned as before to the subgenus Oditichthys in the genus Rivulus. (Huber 1991). See also the introduction page of Anablepsoides.
